My story and start.

(22 M)This is hard. It’s been hard. I know in my heart gambling has done nothing but rip me to shreds mentally and ruin a good chunk of my life, but some how quitting has a stronger feeling than losing a long term friend or disappointing a loved one. Between 19-22 I have lost over $240,000 and counting. My entire life I have been stingy about cash and never spent a nickel on anything for myself, until I found gambling. Prior to gambling I was a happy, self made 19 year old working from home as a live streamer with a large platform I built for myself making more money than 90% of people my age with a hefty savings to show for it, had a girlfriend that I loved to death and wanted to make a real life with. Then it happened. Roughly 3 years ago I discovered online casinos and realized I only had to be 18 instead of 21 like my local casino so I decided to try it. Deposited $50 and turned it into $200, loved the feeling. Lost a deposit or two not long after, then the worst thing that has ever happened in my life occurred. I deposited my usual $50 and over the course of 10 hours playing online blackjack/roulette turned it into $30,000. At 20 years old I was sitting in front of a computer doing $500 spins on black while most people my age where splitting apartments so they could afford $500 for rent. That night I lost all conception of what money truly means and is. The same night I proceeded to lose the entire balance at the crack of dawn with my girlfriend sleeping 5 feet away from me. No words and actions could describe the shame and guilt I felt when I looked to my right. Not even an hour before that I could have stopped and woke her up to the news that I made $30,000 and it would’ve made a massive change in our life. Instead I blew it and was too ashamed to tell her or anyone for that matter. But now something clicked in my head and my brain said “you can win that again, you just need to deposit and take your time”. this mindset turned to a boiling rage, soon my deposits went from $50 to $200, to $500. Until my (joint)bank account was dry. I had gone completely broke at age 21 after being one of the most on track kids I knew at 19. The shame and anger I still feel now is like being forced to do a naked halftime show at the super bowl. After losing all the money I became enthralled in making more money so I could play. I slowly started to lose interest in everything around me that wasn’t gambling. Starting with my job (which I fucking loved and was so blessed to have) then my hobbies (lost interest in anything that costs money since that would be taking away my ability to gamble said money) and finally my love life. My girlfriend would invite me to do things and I’d blow it off so I could stay home and blow all my money or drive to the casino with my entire weeks pay to blow it at the tables and drive home furious to the only thing (which I didn’t see at the time) that mattered or cared about me, my girlfriend. Seeing the disappointment in her eyes as I blew everything we had and eagerly waited for the next sum of money to come from a paycheck or selling something I didn’t use anymore was the worst of it. The only person who ever truly cared for me and loved me, and instead of seeing that I was blinded in the fog of rushing to the atm to slip in my debit card like a junkie stabbing a needle in their arm. I am disgusted at the sheer thought of what my life could’ve been if I had never deposited that initial $50, but it’s something I now have to live with. And if I ever want to have a different version of a happy life aside from the one I missed this gambling shit has to stop. 4 months ago that same girlfriend left me (much later than she should have) and it crushed me more than a big loss at the casino ever could. The hardest part in my head to this day is I never got to find closure in my guilt or shame, and to my actions I don’t deserve it. Last month I didn’t have enough money in my account to pay for my dentist appointment up front so I lied to the receptionist about calling my bank, stood in the lobby and deposited the $25 I had into pokerstars, ripped it into $100 and withdrew to pay for my appointment. How sick and pathetic is that? What the fuck is screwed wrong in my brain and how do I change it? I honestly don’t know why I’m posting this, maybe I think I’ll find closure maybe I just want someone else to read my experience so they don’t make the same mistakes, maybe I just need it off my chest so I can stop living this guilt and shame. But I need to quit and I need help, I’m fearful to do it alone and I can’t figure out why. I feel a fear stronger than any fear I’ve felt before and it’s crippling me, it feels like gambling is my only true friend. I want to stop now. Thanks for reading I apologize for the length but I don’t have anyone in my life I can tell my story too comfortably so maybe the Internet can be that person. Please, don’t gamble.

For the majority of these offers you want to play blackjack following the chart found here
Any blackjack game will do, look for a normal version of the game at the site you are playing on and make sure it is a non live game as the hand sizes will be lower.
When playing blackjack there will often be more than one spot that you can bet on, allowing the player to bet more than one hand at a time, Its important to only bet on one spot at a time as it reduces the variance of the game and will ensure you get the maximum return possible from the game, stick to £1 hand sizes when playing and dont be tempted to bet larger amounts as you will be getting a nice amount of cashback from every offer
Through playing blackjack this way the player will get a return of around 98%, meaning for every £100 staked you will lose around £2. If you make a loss on a casino site after completing the required wagering amount, withdraw your remaining balance, don't chase loses as the cashback will make up for loses and give you a profit in most cases.
All offers are updated fairly regularly, make sure to check the terms for each offer as information in this post may become outdated. Also check for other offers every now and then as new casinos are added!

Pokerstars Blackjack card counting?

I was wondering, in a real casino you could feasibly count cards and as a result gain an advantage in blackjack. Does anyone know how pokerstars shuffles its decks (every round or once the deck is used up) and how many decks it uses?
submitted by Terroractly to PokerStars_VR [link] [comments]

my poker journey

My first real taste of poker came in grade 10. I was maybe fifteen, sixteen at the time, and we organized a five card draw game during second period spare. Eventually we got busted by the teachers. I was eighteen when the poker boom hit. My friends and I played $5 SNGs and WPT Tournaments were a big deal on TV. Then a .10/.25 NLHE home game (some nights .25/.50). This game was classic. Actually I played a rather effective loose aggro style at the time. Well I would switch gears, a bit looser early on, some bluffs, and then straight value towards the end of the night. Really we didn't know anything, but we the great thing about poker is you only have to be slightly better than your opponents.
There was a raked 1/2 game in my town, the Rounders Club or something they called themselves, that I cut my eyeteeth on. Then casino trips. I remember sitting down at a 5/10 limit hold'em game. This was so long ago people actually played limit hold'em.
One day there was a tournament in town, someone had rented a warehouse and set up a tournament. I busted in the tournament with an underpair to the top pair, but with the $200 I had left in my pockets I cleaned up on the cash game, playing 1/2 with a bunch of degenerate cabbies. I'd swing crazy amounts online. I was still in high school the first time I ran up a tiny amount of money to three grand on pokerstars, before losing it all quickly. I was fairly degenerate at that age, but we were young and invincible. I went broke a bunch of times, and then scraped together a bankroll and grinded online.
At one point I moved to Niagara Falls to try my hand at live poker. It went pretty decently for a couple of months. It was full ring NLHE, and the games were very soft, filled with rich tourists. I was living in a nearby hotel and grinding the casino all day. One day I tried my hand at blackjack and lost almost ten grand. I had a ton of cash on me, from all my poker winnings, and I started degening on blackjack for a while. I ran pretty good and had a stash of 5k chips. Then I started losing a bunch of my profits back. That is when I learned about card counting online. With my history at the casino as a whale, I was able to count full time in the high limit room for about ten days straight. And any time the count started to drop I would just hop to another table. There was always a new deck, ready to go. So I played A TON of rounds. And my poker career had steeled me not to hit and run. And I play very fast. The result was a huge winning streak. I was using a fairly aggressive spread, 1 to 16 on black. By the time they banned me I had around $200,000. Paranoid, I spent that night in a hotel.
From that point I was backed off, so I travelled Canada playing blackjacked, getting backed off and banned with my high stakes action.
more to come

The Gambler's Fallacy - My Story of Gambling Away Harvard Med School & Promising Start-Up

Hey guys,
Longtime lurker here, but created a new account to post regularly. My goal is to keep myself accountable and hopefully encourage others.
Early-Life: I grew up in an incredible family. My parents loved us well and provided everything we needed while making us work enough to avoid entitlement. I remember being very happy as a kid. We also had 9 cousins who all lived within 2-3 streets of our house. It was through these cousins that I was first exposed to gambling. Our parents all enjoyed gambling and did so responsibly, so we started playing $1 Texas Hold 'Em games once every few months with all the cousins. It was fun and relatively harmless. We also got a "casino computer game" which was a casino video game using play money. I remember continuing to go "all-in" on the BJ table and "restarting the game" when I busted until I built up an account of $100M+.
First Signs of Trouble: I remember counting down the days to my 18th birthday in order to create a PokerStars account. I signed up on my 18th birthday and started playing. I had some small wins, but was playing at very small stakes as I had little money. I accidentally overdrew my account and stopped after I lost that money.
College: I attended one of the top ranked US universities to study biology with hopes of going to medical school. I was focused on academics and social life and didn't think of gambling at all, much less actually gamble save the occasional poker night. I experienced tremendous success in all facets of life during college. I was on top of the world and couldn't wait for life to start. To make things better I ended up getting accepted to my dream school, Harvard Med School.
"Gambling to win my Harvard Med School Tuition" - I was fortunate enough to have a grandmother who offered to pay for my degree, which would have allowed me to finish debt free. Unfortunately, I watched a movie the summer before school where the protagonist, an MIT student, learns blackjack to win his Harvard Med School tuition. Of course it works because it's a movie, but I think how difficult could blackjack be. I'll learn the ropes and see what I can turn $100 into.
Unbelievably, I managed to go on the heater of my life and turn the $100 into 90% of my tuition. I'm on top of the world and regularly making bets larger than my yearly salary. It was insane and I had the cash to cover the other 10%, but my selfish ass wanted to win it all. Naturally, I lost it all. Then it got bad...I was making these unbelievably large wagers with "house money", but I wanted to get it back so I started blowing through my savings. No luck as I'm gambling with pure emotion. I start putting money on credit cards and again start experiencing some success, but want to get everything back that I lost. Proceed to have a terrible experience of the gambler's fallacy (belief that prior hands impact future outcome) and lost 3x my salary in 4 hands. I was dealt 20 each time and the dealer ended up with 21 each time....terrible luck.
Coming Clean: I had to tell my parents that I was deep in debt and no longer wanting to attend Harvard. I needed to get myself right, so I moved home and started attending GA. During this time I started working on a start-up and consumed myself with this startup. I ended up experiencing some early success and significant investor interest. I had $1M of investor money committed, but I was going to have to give up 25% of my company. Before doing that I thought I'll give gambling one more chance. It's been several months at this point and I won't be compulsive. My dumbass works up a massive payroll once again, but want to win my entire investment. I end up losing it and everything my business had already generated.
Telling My Parents (Again) - Worst day of my life. Absolutely devastating to disappoint them like I did. Undeserving of the love and support that they showed. Cried like a baby the entire time. Committed to changing.
Getting a Real Job - Deep in debt (Almost $100k) and having squandered away Harvard Med School and my own business I needed to buckle down, get a real job, and start working out of the debt. I'm living with my parents to save money and pay this off. I've got a decent job and should be able to pay it off in less than 2 years. Recently had a small slip up and was disgusted with myself, so much so that I don't think I'll play it again. I know I can't win my way out, and even if I did it would crush my loved ones that I turned back to gambling.
What's Next - Stepping up and working through this. Attending GA, listening to podcasts, reading books, checking this group, posting/commenting often, etc. I cannot afford to continue on. I'm 27 and have sacrificed so much already, but can still turn it around. Don't want to ruin my life. Sorry for the novel.

looking for investors

My first poker game was five card draw in fourth period spare. We played in the hallway, outside of the lockers, until eventually a teacher shut us down. But we got in a few sessions. The second game I remember was on top of an internet cafe. Again we played five card draw. It was like a $5 or $10 buy in game. I remember once making a wheel and taking down the pot with a substantial bet; I showed my hand and there was debate over whether the ace even played as a one. Luckily no one had called me. At one point I dealt myself from the bottom of the deck. I wasn't cheating, I had literally no idea what the card was, I just dealt it to myself from the bottom. Stu, this big obese guy demanded to see my cards when I folded post draw. I had like jack high or whatever. Anyway, later on in that night we switched to inbeteween. You get two cards and have to bet on whether the card is going to be inbetween or not. If you post (hit a card on the outside, so if your two cards are K2 then you hit a K that is called posting and you have to pay double). It is pot limit. Anyway, the pot grew to be over a hundred dollars and I eventually did win it.
From there it was $5 and $10 SNGs with my buddies, a regular $25 and then $50 cash game that I was a reg at for a couple of years, and online poker. This was all 16-17 years ago now, but that is when I started playing poker. Eventually I graduated to casino trips. I remember my first trip to Windsor Ontario, I put together a couple thousand dollars and spewed it all $100 at a time playing 1/2 NLHE. The guys there called me Frodo. I went bust a lot of times in those early days, usually with the meager couple hundred dollar bankroll I could scratch together. Then I had some success. This was during the poker boom, and I was able to build myself some six figure bankrolls from scratch, then bust them and start over again. Maybe a decade ago I switched to plo, although I still play NLHE cash.
All of my adult life, I have been a professional poker player. This game is my life. The highs have been amazing. Battling against Isildur at 25/50 plo on Pokerstars, travelling across Canada, living in hotels for months on end, becoming a professional blackjack player (card counter), blowing crazy amounts of money, winning and losing fortunes, then starting over with a hundred dollars and a dream.
Today my life is a lot different. I've got a wife and two kids. I've stopped partying, don't travel very much. I grind to support my family.

Unlike most prospective horses, I'm far from broke. I've got a bankroll, and play every day, to earn enough money to support my family and to put a little away for a rainy day. That being said, there is a lot of potential in networking, and I like playing staked especially if my backer brings something else to table as well, like access to new games on pppoker or other apps. I also have references from previous satisfied backers.
Here are a range of investment proposals, starting small and working our way up. Some of the larger plans would probably need to involve multiple backers, or one really rich dude. For some of these I could come on as an investor as well.
So the smallest scale would be "rent a session". Essentially this is like backing someone to play a tournament, except I don't play tournaments I play cash games. The advantage here is that we can get started with minimal capital investment on your behalf. For example we could do something like 8 stacks of PLO $100 ($800) and you would get 75% of any upside from the session. No makeup. Just a one time deal and we're done, any losses are on you. I'm just spit-balling numbers here feel free to suggest alternate terms. Depending if I was to play say 6 tables for the session we'd want to have more capital on hand probably. Also it might be good to play PLO $50 AND PLO $100, so I can game select the best tables from either limit. Actually this rent a session approach would work best for live poker, where playing only one table and the slow pace of the game makes a > 300 bb swing unlikely (especially with my nitty style). But we could do live or online.
So after that would be a longer term relationship. Backer puts up the bankroll (here you would be essentially called upon to have 30-40 buyins available to me, although I don't necessarily need them all at once) and gets a straight 50% split of profits with full makeup. So any time the bankroll is stuck, than any future winnings go clearing the makeup first. Minimum here would be something like PLO $50 or PLO $100, assuming you have access to some soft games, Indian sites, Chinese sites, pppoker clubs something like that.
Another investment idea is to start a blackjack team. Actually this is quite a solid investment, if you can manage costs. Basically you get several card counters to play the same bankroll. Investors get a high ROI investment with a low time horizon and minimal ROR, and the players get a good chance to make bank with no or limited risk on their behalf. If you look at a typical counting simulation, taking a conservative approach of half kelly with resizing, the chance of busting before doubling is substantially less than 1%. So investors will be looking at a 50% return, obviously the amount of time it will take is unknown. Of course it is crucial to keep expenses in line here, so ideally you have a large enough bankroll that they don't matter because they are a small enough fraction, or work out some sort of team van situation. The absolute minimum here would be like 30k (but that could be 6x5k, not really that hard to find some people who might want to invest, I could invest as well), and the bigger the bankroll the better. Investors could be players as well, keeping a close on the money, it is super easy to train someone to count especially if they are winning poker players and knowledgeable gamblers in the first place. In addition to card counting there are other vulnerabilities, like hole carding, next card knowledge that can be capitalized on as well.

Free £142.99+ with TopCashback/Quidco no loss gambling offers

Free £142.99+ with TopCashback/Quidco no loss gambling offers

Both TopCashback and Quidco offer cashback for signing up gambling websites, then depositing and wagering a minimum amount. All the ones listed below are 'no loss' in that the amount of cashback offered is at least the same amount as the minimum deposit and wager.
If you sign up with my referral links and complete all the offers in the table below then you can get £142.99 back in cashback, plus whatever winnings you make on any of the sites.
Blackjack is quite popular for these offers as there are ways of playing to minimise your losses, but I normally go for roulette, pick a number and go for that every time until my initial deposit is spent. Worked well for me and I've walked away with extra money from all places roulette is elegible for the offer.
I don't want to say this is guaranteed money as cashback never is, but I've done all these offers and have only ever had to dispute one as it didn't track, and is currently being resolved.

Steps

  1. Sign up to TopCashback with my referral link / non ref
  2. Sign up to Quidco with my referral link (£12.50 bonus) / non ref (no bonus)
  3. Complete the offers in the table below.

13 LottoGo £1 £3.84 £2.84
14 Lottomart £2 £8.92 £6.92
15 Tombola £10 £10 -

Notes

  1. Read the terms of each offer before depositing and wagering, as for example no sports bets are accepted for the Genting Casino offer, you must deposit the minimum amount in one go for the William Hill offer, etc.
  2. Cashback offers don't pay out immediately, but there is an average payment speed listed in the RetaileTracking Stats section on each page.
  3. Make sure you make any ad/tracking blockers disabled whilst clicking through and completing the offers, as the retailers must track new registrations and purchases in order to pay cashback. Having these enabled in the most common reason for cashback not tracking.
  4. If you sign up with my TopCashback referral link, I'll get £7.50 when you get £10 in payable cashback.
  5. If you sign up with my Quidco referral link, I'll also get £12.50 when you get £5 in confirmed cashback.
Let me know if you have any questions, as I've done all of these offers already and happy to help :)

Day 1

I’m 30 years old and I have been gambling for more than half of my life. I’ve lost about 700 dollars this month playing poker and blackjack on online casinos. I’ve had multiple years where I’ve lost more than $5k a year and I haven’t been able to accurately track my total losses, but I’d imagine there are somewhere around $30k over my life. Luckily I am not in debt, but I realize that this may not always be the case. This morning I woke up and for the first time felt compelled to seek help.
I started when I was 15 years old. It was right around the time that the big online gambling boom happened in the US and I spent a lot of time as a teen on Full Tilt and Pokerstars gambling. In college the behavior continued and I found that I was particularly prone to gambling whenever a big assignment was due. Time and time again I would engage in compulsive gambling often under the influence of attention deficit disorder medication which would allow me to stay up all night and boosted my dopamine when gambling.
In my twenties my gambling was sporadic. I stopped gambling for while until I moved to a new town in my mid 20s and didn’t know many people so I frequented the casino that was conveniently located between my job and my home. I’d spend entire nights gambling and drinking often times hitting my self imposed $1k debit card withdrawal limit.
Fast forward to today. I’m once again in school and working full time. As is usually the case when I’m stressed and overworked, I’ve gone back to online casino especially when taking medication. I lost about 7k in 2018, 4K in 2019 and somehow have managed to stay about flat this year despite high betting volume. I don’t want to lose anymore money and most importantly time. I’m stopping today and I’m doing research on what the best form of treatment will be for me. I hope to be able to track my progress and provide updates.

People that don't know what FunFair (FUN) is you should really check it out, this might help you understand what's it all about

First I'd like to say that I'm invested into it (really nothing big at all, but I need to put this here)
FUN definitely is one of those tokens with huge use case in online gambling industry, it can guarantee fairness in all online casinos if they adopt FunFair, and online gamblers can finally know they are getting fair odds without rigged programs at games like blackjack, roulette, slot machines... you name it.
with current online gamble sites no one can really know what odds they are getting, if odds are being rigged etc. (it's often said they let you win at first so you up your stakes and then they take it from you) and FunFair can solve this with smart contracts.
now you make ask your self "hey, why don't they just use ether for all this?" and this is where the actual platform comes in, FunFair isn't just a 'standard' that other online gambling sites can adopt, it's also a platform that lets you make your own casino with very little effort (I sorta see it as WordPress for casinos) and that casino will be easy to set and of course fair. FunFair is also launching their own casino which you can already try (multiple games with blockchain and test options) it already looks fine but it's of course not launched yet, you should see it as an early beta.
I see it that as first FunFair casinos will get launched everyone would likely be switching to them (or to those that adopt it, remember they can also do that) as they can guarantee fairness that others just can't. I basically see no reason for players to stay on casinos that won't use it as a standard.
another absolutely huge thing about FunFair is their team which is absolutely amazing, big names from both gambling casinos (head marketing of PokerStars and bwin, former International director of William Hill and founders and programmers from multiple online gambling sites)
now don't just take my word for it; go check their site, read about it, raise questions about it...
as an investor I feel like this has absolutely HUGE potential and it's still so unknown for most people in crypto. Basically with so much coins being completely useless or with no real use case at all this one is one of the few that actually does something amazing and the best part is that they really don't have any competition at all (unlike currency, privacy, smart contract, decentralised exchanges, fast transactions... coins)
their site: https://funfair.io

points I missed(edit):
BioRito made another great point that I missed; The Casino doesn't get to hold, handle, or interact with your money in any way. The two parties make the bet and the results are handled through smart contracts: you lose, you pay up; you win, they pay up. Your funds stay in your wallet until you lose the bet.
This is a huge reduction in risk for users. You don't have to trust the gambling site (trust that they'll actually credit your account; or trust that you'll be able to withdraw the money in a timely fashion, or at all; or trust that the whole place won't go tits up and close their doors with your money still in it; or trust that the owner won't use the casino's funds to pay for his vacation and his mistress' apartment before bankrupting it; and so on).
Also input from OriginalUnicornBoner: Another overlooked benefit of their blockchain model is that a player never has to "deposit" funds into the casino they are playing at. Unlike traditional online gambling where the player deposits fiat and receives "Chips" of value and then cashes out, FunFair casinos will be operated with the FUN token that the user is always in control of. No depositing/cashing out needed.

Funfair is a Sleeping Giant

Currently sitting at a market cap of slightly under $400M, FunFair is looking to take off in 2018. It has been stable for the last few days, trading at between $.085 and $.090, which is lower than its ATH of $0.125.
Funfair is an Ethereum based currency that has a targeted game plan in the online casino business. Online gaming has a market of roughly 47 billion in 2017, and it is expected to reach nearly 60 billion by 2020. At the moment, Funfair lacks any real competition in this market.
FUN is only about 6 months old, but it has a solid team and it has been adding people with connections to the online casino business. Most recently, FUN hired a consultant who worked for PokerStars. Now if you've ever played online poker, it was probably on PokerStars, or if you've ever watched a poker tournament on TV, the players were probably wearing PokerStars gear. Having a connection to PokerStars is huge, as it controls over 2/3 of the entire online poker market.
Now why would a gambler want to play on Funfair and why would an online casino adopt FUN? First, it will be more secure than other online casinos. Second, it will permit transparency. Currently, if you are playing blackjack against a computer at an online casino, how do you know what the house odds are? You don't. However a casino licensed with FUN can guarantee fairness. If and when it takes off, gamblers won't even bother playing on a casino without a funfair license. And third, the experience will be faster and more efficient. FUN is my sleeper pick for 2018.
TL;DR - online casinos are large and untapped market, FUN is the leading contender to enter this market, FUN is hiring staff with connections to online casino leaders, FUN licensed casinos can offer fairness, security, peace of mind, and a faster and more efficient gaming experience.
EDIT to clarify that FUN isn't a casino

Funfair Overview and Update. There is Hope!

Funfair: Blockchain Solutions for Gaming.
For those of you unfamiliar with Funfair. Here's a brief overview:
Funfair was Founded in 2017, and is an Ethereum-based platform for online casino gaming.
Founded in 2017, FunFair is an Ethereum-based platform for online casino gaming. The online gambling market is predicted to be worth $60 Billion by 2020. Funfair isn’t actually a casino, instead, they licence out the underlying gaming technology to casinos and other gambling platforms.
One of the brilliant things about Funfair is that they market their software to casinos that mainstream audiences already use.
Now, the major challenge faced by casino operators today, especially online casino operators, is the question of trust in their offerings. To put it simply, users are reluctant to trust these services. Players feel insecure about the true odds of the games they’re playing, even if those odds are made available by the casino site.
The reason being, current server based gaming infrastructure is vulnerable to tampering and fraud. And players have no way to verify that everything is fair in the games they’re playing.
Now, Funfair have been able to solve the problem of trust, in online gambling. By building technology that cannot cheat anyone. Funfair runs on Blockchain, and Ethereum smart contracts it offers players a transparent, fair and publicly audit-able gaming experience. Player protection and provable fairness are guaranteed.
Transparent RNG ensures that the games are provably fair. Game logic is verifiable and run by Blockchain smart contracts.
Unlike other Blockchain casinos, Funfair games play as fast as any traditional online casino.
No bank account is required, so deposits and withdrawals are virtually instant. There's no need to trust a casino with your funds because funfair games let you play straight from your Crypto wallet. Winnings for every game are held in escrow by the Blockchain and paid out instantly.
For operators, fewer servers, fewer databases, fewer security & technical staff, as well as fewer internal personnel, means that costs are significantly reduced. And, no fees or charge-backs for the operator.
Funfair powered casinos' run on Blockchain, which is resistant to hardware failure, power outage or attack.
In short, Funfair casinos are faster, easier, and cheaper to create than traditional software.
The Funfair Team: Now, the team. The team is an all star team of 50 plus individuals. The leadership are industry veterans and experts in the gaming field. Arguably, the most accomplished team in Crypto. When you consider their combined gaming industry experience, relevant entrepreneurial and business experience, as well as an extraordinary track record of prior success, in the gaming industry. I would, at least, put the team on the same standing as the team at ripple, but would have to award the Funfair team extra points for their prior track record of success in the gaming industry.
Jez San OBE: Jez San the CEO and Co-founder of funfair, came to the project with an extensive background in gaming and online gambling that stretches back to 1982, as well, he has a more modern appreciation and experience in Cryptocurrency circles.
Jez received his first computer at the age of twelve in 1978. Within a year he'd taught himself assembly language for several microprocessors.
He founded Argonaut Software as a teenager in high school as a way to get software consulting jobs with large companies. He worked on security systems with British Telecom and Acorn. In 1984, at 18 years of age, he started developing his first game, Skyline Attack for the Commodore 64, he also co-wrote a book, Quantum Theory, about the Sinclair QL. And, he became a wizard (admin) at Essex MUD, the world's first multiplayer online role-playing game.
His late-1986 game Starglider for the Atari ST and the Commodore Amiga sold hundreds of thousands of copies (earning him £2 per copy in royalties). The money helped launch Argonaut as a larger company that started hiring other people in 1986.
In 1996, Argonaut received external funding from Apax Partners and was publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2000.
He also helped found ARC International when it was spun out from Argonaut in 1998 and was its largest shareholder on IPO.
Between 1999 and 2002, he founded Codeplay and is currently the majority shareholder.
He received an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 2002, the first explicitly awarded for services to the computer game industry.
He founded Crunchy Frog Ltd, which in 2005 became online poker company PKR. An online poker room that allowed users to play poker in a virtual reality setting.
In 2008, he co-founded mobile application developer and publisher Origin8. Which produces iPhone and BlackBerry software, and has offices in London.
Jeremy Longley: The CTO of Funfair is Jeremy Longley, who was a co-founder of PKR.com. Longley has extensive experience in both 2D and 3D game creation and in the past has led teams to develop innovative HTML5 and Android products, cashier systems, account management features, and third party system integrations.
He also has an MA in Computer Science with 1st Class Honours from Cambridge University. He seems to be a dominant figure behind a lot of the tech at Funfair.
Oliver Hopton: Funfair’s third founder, Oliver Hopton, has over 15 years experience building gaming products. Including 10 years as Software Development Manager at PKR and 18 months as CTO at EveryFan. He, along with Longley, also appears to be a leading figure behind a lot of the tech at Funfair.
Stefan Kovach CCO at Funfair: Stefan was previously Marketing director at PokerStars for nearly 12 years.
James Harrison Director of Corporate: James was Compliance and Licensing Director at Gaming Realms for 3 years, and CEO at AlchemyBet for 5 years, 5 months.
The FUN Token: FUN is the native token that powers every aspect of the Funfair gaming ecosystem. It is the betting chip that pits player against casino, the financial reward paid to developers for their games, and the fuel that enables key processes on the network.
Ownership of individual tokens is anonymous.
A total of just under 11 billion FUN tokens were created on June 22, 2017, and no more will be created. There are 5.3 billion FUN in circulation. With this fixed supply, the token is deflationary and should experience increases in price over time as demand for it increases. Furthermore, Funfair singe all FUN that are collected as fees. Singe is a term that refers to very very long-term cold storage, and with the potential to be destroyed, when the regulatory atmosphere permits. Taking these tokens out of circulation, in this way, should also put upward pressure on price.
Importantly, casinos' must stake enough FUN to cover payouts / winnings. Which basically means that a lot of FUN will be locked up in the networks growing list of casinos'.
Now, we are currently in a major bear market. But, do stop to remember, that this does not reflect on Funfair. What is does reflect on is the current state of the market. Markets are cyclical and I, personally, expect a recovery and corresponding bull market will be forthcoming (Just my opinion).
Partnerships: Funfair have a number of partners.
Spike Games is one. Spike Games is a well-known creator of slot games. Funfair partnered with them in April this year. Spike are assisting in the creation of new Blockchain versions of popular slot games.
Big Wave Gaming is another partner. Big Wave is a Sydney based slot game creator, with a focus on Asian markets. The partnership was created to give Funfair better access to Asian markets.
And of course, RakeTheRake. Rake the Rake is the largest and most reputable Rakeback affiliate in the worldwide poker market today.
CasinoFair: Funfair has launched the first brand to go live on their network: CasinoFair.
CasinoFair, under its tagline ‘Famous for Fairness’, goes beyond traditional limitations and offers players the fairest experience possible using decentralization of the Blockchain as well as Fate Channels, which is Funfair’s proprietary version of generalized state channel technology.
Players use FUN to play, directly funded from their Crypto wallet, a growing range of premium games are available on CasinoFair. Including Funfairs latest titles, Wheel of Fun, Fate of Thrones and FunDice, along with a host of popular casino games such as European Roulette and Blackjack.
CasinoFair will only get bigger and better, as Funfair evolves from offering a service to the Crypto community to disrupting the mass gaming market.
Sales Funnel: Funfair is currently putting a lot of emphasis on optimizing CasinoFair's sales funnel. This will make it significantly easier and faster for players to start playing on Funfair powered Casinos' going forward!
Funfair is also putting a lot of emphasis on players being able to purchase FUN directly at the Casino.
We can expect to see these improvements in the weeks, and months ahead.
Funfair players can look forward to a significantly streamlined entry into FF powered casinos'.
New Games: Funfair also anticipate a steady roll out of new games over the coming weeks and months! Including space slots and pirate slots, two more wheels, an Alice Cooper slot, as well as, a fishy slot, from outside game developers. Along with some other stuff too. There's a lot happening at Funfair. The Fishy slot is apparently insane and something to really watch out for. These games will add to Funfairs ever expanding line-up of games.
RaketheRake Casino: Also, the second Casino on the Funfair network is set to be launched this quarter. It will be operated and marketed by RaketheRake. For those of you unfamiliar with RaketheRake, they are the largest and most reputable Rakeback affiliate in the worldwide poker market. RaketheRake currently work in conjunction with all of the top poker rooms to increase traffic to their casino sites and secure the best Rakeback deals for their players. The Funfair powered casino will be the first casino owned and operated directly by RaketheRake.
Funfairs Competitors: Funfair has a few Crypto-based competitors but is far ahead of the competition. Nevertheless, with the popularity of Blockchain gambling, as well as the sheer size of the market it wouldn’t be surprising to see more competitors enter the space.
Decent Bet, Edgeless, and Dao.Casino are some Blockchain-based casinos. However, by licensing out their tech to casinos, Funfair isn’t in direct competition with these projects. Instead, Funfair faces competition from platform providers in the traditional online gambling space such as Kambi, Gig, and EveryMatrix.
In Summary: I'd have to say I rate Funfair very highly among all the Crypto projects out there. They have excellent leadership, with a proven track record of success, a great team, a lot of industry experience, a great concept, and a working product to back it up, strong Tokenomics, with FUN being needed to fuel every aspect of the Funfair network. Additionally, all fees are singed, as well as, casinos' having to stake enough FUN to cover casino payouts.
If anyone can find a silver-lining in the current environs it's gonna be the best and brightest of crypto folks.

First time playing live poker

I turned 21 about a month and a half ago, and have always had an infatuation with poker. I’ve watched hundreds of hours and played on those fake poker apps before finally joining pokerstars. Leading up to that moment I’ve done my best to read, listen and study pot odds & equity/ general strategy. Watched countless hand reviews. After a month I built up about a $400 bankroll online, through low stake cash games and some lucky spin & gos.... Then of course made the mistake of playing with my entire bankroll (I know I’m an idiot for this, I was feeling invincible and got a little greedy) and went all in with AA v KK, dude hits the river. I took a bit of a break from the app, my spirit slightly crushed after this & a bad beat in a relatively big tournament (for myself) where I was 2nd in chips down to the last 16 out of 80+ entrants & the only Person who has me covered jams my 4bet pre flop, I snap call with AA, he shows QQ and catches a lady on the flop.
2 weeks go by where I haven’t played any poker, and I find myself in a casino with a very large/popular poker room. I play 1/2 NL for the first time live, buy in for 100bb (rather than losing it all at the blackjack tables) and walked away after 3 hours up $210. Made some pretty painful lay downs and a few rookie mistakes for my first time, but was aggressive when I needed to be and got max value out of the few hands I had. But overall loved the interpersonal vibe of the table & people I was playing against. I also found it easier to play certain hands live compared to online. If I had the choice of live or online I’d take live games any day. Anybody else feel the same way, Is the transition from live poker to online more difficult than the other way around?

FunFair - An In-Depth Analysis (Updated April 25th)

FunFair has been up to a lot of things, and thus, the post made a few months ago is quite outdated. I’ve written this just to keep the subreddit updated, and to have a nicely formatted post full of information regarding FunFair for both newcomers and “veterans”. This post will be updated more often than not, and when the time comes for a new one again, it shall be written! Cheers.

What is FunFair?

FunFair is a decentralized gaming technology platform which uses the Ethereum blockchain, smart contracts, and proprietary state channels (Fate Channels) to deliver casino solutions with state of the art games that are fast, fun, and fair.
FunFair is not a casino. Instead, FunFair will license its technology out to casino operators. Being a casino carries with it risks and burdens stemming from statutory and regulatory hurdles. Being a licensing entity instead, provides legal safeguards and will enable a more widely used platform.

Why was FunFair created?

There are many costs, headaches, and complications with online casinos. Briefly, they are the fees associated with operations (servers, infrastructure, large employee-base, fraudulent activity investigations, chargebacks) etc. Attracting players and gaining their trust comes afterwards, which is another issue within itself. There is a blatant trust issue with conventional online gaming that FunFair aims to diminish, while creating a seamless experience for both operator and player.

The Market.

Online gambling is a large market: Currently over 47.1 billion dollars in market volume and projected to continue increasing quite exponentially. FunFair is also attempting to capture a new market of casino operators and players that aren’t currently factored into this estimate.

The Team.

The FunFair team consists of 40+ developers, industry executives, and professionals. They have one of the largest teams in cryptocurrency. Feel free to check them out on their website: https://funfair.io/how-it-works/our-team/

Career Opportunities

Further, FunFair is looking to expand – and fast. They expect to have a team of 50+ people in the not-so-distant future, as they are currently hiring developers, business and marketing professionals, and so forth. So, if you’re looking for an opportunity to showcase your expertise in these fields, try your shot at securing a position within the company! (https://www.funfair.io/careers) The FunFair team’s base of operations is in London, UK.
Some of the positions currently offered in the United Kingdom, England, London:

When did they start the project?

Technically, FunFair started on June 22nd, 2017, because all FUN tokens that will ever exist were created on this day. However, the idea, technology, and product were being developed before the ICO started.

What have they accomplished to date?

FunFair have accomplished a lot since their inception- consistently updating development, business operations, and hiring many new staff. From Sponsoring DevCon 3, receiving awards from the Malta Gaming Awards, excellent showcase updates, and launching their product to the gaming industry at the International Casino Exhibition which boasted over 30,000 industry attendees, they have been on track to their public release. With the release of the closed beta right around the corner, the future is bright for FunFair.

Ok, so what is the technology? What are they developing?

FunFair is building their decentralized platform and protocol on top of Ethereum’s blockchain. FunFair is developing the game technology, and their proprietary, advanced state channel technology which they call Fate Channels. The platform that FunFair has created and continues to develop, will allow anyone to run a casino in just a few clicks, allow third party developers to distribute and integrate their own games to a new, global audience, while creating the ultimate casino experience for end users.
Fate Channels are FunFair’s custom, proprietary version of State Channels. They are superior technology to current State Channels, as they are what support the communication during game sessions between player and casino, while executing entire game logic and random number generation off-chain. They provide a fast, low cost method for RNG, starting game sessions, ending them, and settling with smart contracts on the blockchain. There is only one gas fee needed to start the game session, which solves scalability issues with platforms like Ethereum.
For an in-depth explanation that you won’t be disappointed in reading, please refer to the technical white paper here: https://funfair.io/wp-content/uploads/FunFair-Technical-White-Paper.pdf

What really happens in the Fate Channels?

FunFair’s random number generation is executed within the Fate Channel, and is a commit/reveal scheme that makes it provably fair. There are also a hash chain to prove that the overall sequence is indeed fair.
A player enters a FunFair-powered casino with some FUN tokens in their wallet, and then both the casino and player send FUN tokens from each of their personal wallets into a smart contract which then holds the FUN in escrow via the Fate Channels (off-chain) until the player cashes out/closes the channel.
The player and casino swap random seeds that they have generated locally, and these are then hashed numerous times by both parties in private. The sequence of hashes are stored locally by each party. There could be thousands of hashes, which become the random numbers, and are passed one by one, in reverse order, by the casino to the player and vice versa when the game needs randomness. Since the hashes are in reverse order, a new hash will always hash into the previous one, so that it can be verified that it’s the correct value of the next hash. The first hash is committed in the state channel on the blockchain as it was opened, and this is what will be used later to reveal that the random number generation was correct.
The position that a ball lands on in a roulette spin, for example, is computed this way. The two hashes provided by both player and casino are combined into a random number that neither side could have predicted. It’s provably fair because because it can be shown that they come from the same hash chain in the correct sequence, and it can be shown after the game session is over, using the reveal to show the seed was in fact, committed to the blockchain in advance of the games played.
The random number generation scheme works extremely fast, and is not dependent and waiting on the blockchain for verification every time, yet it is provably fair in both randomness and sequence. It is easy to detect cheating by either side (for instance, the random number generations would go out of sequence). The security of the hash chain is what makes the randomness unpredictable. If it is possible to reverse a hash, you could predict the random number generation. FunFair uses SHA-3 for hash generation, which has not been reversed yet, and is likely to last in strength for some decades.

The platform.

FunFair presents its casino operators and players with a gaming opportunity never seen before:

The games.

FunFair is pursuing a full suite of traditional casino games:
You can test all of these games, right now at https://showcase.funfair.io . Some are currently testable on the Ethereum test networks.
Regarding mobile functionality: A number of mobile dapp browsers are being built (ciphestatus) – FunFair support these. Their games are built with technology that works in mobile browsers.
FunFair is one of the only projects in the cryptocurrency space that has a working product.

Some Information Regarding Casino Operators:

Casino operators will save significant money on hardware, chargebacks, and operational headcount. The number of physical servers required is reduced as gameplay executes in immutable smart contracts deployed to the ethereum network.
An operator will, at all times, require a reserve of FUN tokens to ensure they are able to accept bets, and cover their liabilities. If, after a period of time, they wish to convert some of their FUN token balance they will have a number of market exchanges which are capable of facilitating this type of transaction.
FunFair is working on the many customization options right now and up until release. You will definitely be able to customize the look and feel. You can add your own graphics, logos, colour schemes, etc. You will also be able to choose which kinds of games are offered, and how they will be laid out.
FunFair fully supports KYC. They’ve built their own KYC technology that’s crypto-friendly. FunFair’s tech will allow each operator to have their own policies on who they exclude and whether they require KYC/AML etc.
A reminder, FunFair isn’t an operator, it’s a technology that operators use, and some will be in countries where they need to do KYC/AML and some will be in countries where they don’t. FunFair’s tech works for all cases and will support the full strength KYC if that operator requires it.
Lots of information can also be found on the website. Here are some excellent links:

The Past, Present, and Future of FunFair..

FunFair has been consistently networking, and the team have been continually attending blockchain conferences and events. From launching their product to the gaming industry at the International Casino Exhibition in early February, launching their product to the Asian market at G2E Asia, and just recently announcing their industry first game development partner; Spike Games, FunFair is advancing very well, on track and ready for industry disruption.

Now although in my opinion online casinos will begin to license FUN in 2018, this is no guarantee. That may not matter however, as FUN will be releasing their own casino in Q1. You can play a demo on their website right now. Slots, blackjack, poker, roulette, etc.

[SERIOUS] Pokerstars Live Casino Charges money without your knowledge

First ill explain what happenend. Pokerstars is charging money while playing live casino will u didnt bet that money. Also it doesnt show at the start of the hand but at the end of the hand or somehwere in between. Which seems odds to me, because it gives quite rapidly a error when u wasnt on time with betting.
Also when i check the "Game History", it doesn't show any charges being made, while it clearly got charged of my "balance".
Example1: 27 february i betted $1,- , while finishing the hand it suddenly the bet amount changed from 1 dollar to 19-20 dollar while the hand was about to finish, i sent them a email and their reaction was that i " misclicked"
->------- Email 1-------
"Sent: 02/27/2018 17:09:59 Subject: Casino Queries (.EU v3) SC you charged me 18 dollar at blackjack, there was no bet.
you charged me 18 dollar will i betted 1dollar behind only, hand @ 22:01:53 blackjack 5 dollar table stockholm I betted 1 dollar behind i got charged 69-20=49 instead of 69-1=68. please resolve this, thanks alot"
->----- Response on Email 1 from pokerstars" Thank you for your email, we have now completed a thorough review of your query.
Following our investigation into this matter, we have determined that no wagers were placed without your instruction.
Therefore, we can confirm that no technical issues were at play and the value of the wager in question was simply a result of a ‘Mis-Click’.
While we fully understand that this was not your intent, please note that all wagers committed at the tables are final. Therefore, in the interest of fairness to all of our players, no adjustment can be made in this instance.
To avoid this kind of issues in the future, you can set the maximum betting limit for slots following the steps below:
'Tools' > 'Responsible Gaming' > 'Restrict Casino & Vegas Limit'
You can lift the restriction later through the same menu. But, once you have set the limit in the client, you will be unable to request an increase or removal of it for 7 days. Once this period expires, you can request an increase or removal and it will take 24 hours to be approved.
We thank you kindly for your understanding on this matter and thank you for choosing us.

example 2 -email 1:me: "I played all day and u cantfind. Any bj game? You stealing peoples money because of bad software Thisisoutreagous, this isnt the first time this happenend. If you see the customer support emails, they clearly are not trying to cooperate, they tell me they cant find any blackjack game which must be a lie as i played that day, and the day before blackjack. Funny thing was that suddenly 1 week later they send to my "bank account" exactly 50,00EURO, which totally made no sense, because while they mabye charged me 60-70 dollar too much, no way you can convert it to exactly to 50 euro. I got alot more information and screenshot of live supports(more like live brick support).
I'm not trying to spread any bad shit about pokerstars, but trying to get some awareness and actually get this fixed so i can play in a legit environment. I also like to hear your stories if you encountered anything similair or if i posted this in the wrong forum.
Thanks alot,

2015 - My poker year

(you can find a TL;DR at the end of this post, containing my yearly results and my goals for next year)
My first contact with gambling started with the famous "use this strategy to get rich at XY" (XY being mostly blackjack or roulette). As i was still very young i believed these stupid things. I didnt know better. Hours after hours i played for playmoney online, and i got fascinated having the idea to win money by playing a game. After a while i finally learned that in every gambling game the edge is on the side of the casino.
Every game? No. There is poker, a game of skill and psychology. A game where the better player can be a winner. I HAD to learn this game. So i bought a few books, and started learning. I only learned the very very basic stuff, but i thought that was enough. I deposited 10 bucks and started playing 2NL, with the occasional 5NL or 10NL mixed in because i was on tilt or "trying to win my money back". Obviously i was a total fish. I lost my money very fast, and got frustrated. Every now and then i came back to try but, who wouldve guessed, i lost over and over again.
I am a very competetive person, but my competetive drive was focused on other computergames. After i peaked and plateaued in the games i grinded for hours and hours each day for years (at first CoD, then League of Legends where my best ranking was Diamond 3), i started looking for a new challenge. And then it hit me. POKER! But this time i would take it more serious. This time i would be a winner! So the journey began...
On the 1st of january i created my account on pokerstars. This time i deposited 50 bucks. I was still in school, so i couldnt play it fulltime, but i used every free minute i had to play and learn the game. I taught the game to myself by reading through articles online, learned the basics from pokerstrategy.com, and started playing 2NL with proper BRM. For christmas i got money to buy Pokertracker4, so i could finally track my results aswell. After a bit of trying everything out i decided that 6max Zoom was the game made for me. Action all the time and the ability to grind for hours without getting bored. Perfect. So i did. And i was winning, what a great feeling. With the things i learned i was able to beat 2NLz all by myself. I didnt care about the amount of money, which obviously was nothing, but i was making money all by myself, with a thing i loved doing. My passion grew with each and every day. At first my mother was against this whole thing. She didnt like it if i "gambled". Obviously she had no clue about poker not being gambling, but i was far away from being able to correctly explain it to her, as i was still a noob too, so i cant blame her. This is the 2NLz graph for the whole year: http://i.imgur.com/iKHbI6W.png
As you can see i was a solid winner at 2NLz. But moving up was hard. I did take many shots, but the first 50k hands of 5NLz i was losing at it. I had all the typical problems: i was money scared, i thought villains were playing better, i just didnt play the gameplan i had established at 2NL. That is also the reason why i had such a big sample at 2NLz (100k hands), because i always had to move down again. I was getting more and more frustrated. And i was stubborn. I didnt even think about studying more to get better. I was just grinding and grinding each and every day, trying to finally get the succesfull shot. I was still somewhat active in the online community though. I started watching twitch streamers, and i even became mod in "KomodoDragonJesus"' stream. I started reading articles again and i recognized that if i wanted to beat 5NL i had to study again. So i did. And ca. in the middle of may i finally started winning. From one day to another i was good enough. It was like someone turned on a switch. The big thing i learned in these days was that i cant just grind the whole day, because i will be plateauing sooner or later. If i wanted to climb the ladder i needed to study all the time. I started reading more and more, most of it in the 2+2 forums. I started connecting with people, chatting with them over skype. It could be that that was the time where i started being active here on /poker. I was always a big fan of reddit, and i was happy that there was a sub for poker. Here you can see my 5NLz graph for the whole year: http://i.imgur.com/KWVQsPw.png - and this is the graph since i was winning: http://i.imgur.com/rTCiqrl.png
After grinding for some time i started taking shots at 10NLz, and history repeated itself. It was pretty much the same as when i wanted to move up from 2NL to 5NL. Not much to say to this situation tbh. BUT a big thing happened at 10NLz. My first BIG tiltingspree. This was the first time a major downswing hit me, and i got mad at the game, mad at myself for playing poorly, and so on. You cant miss it if you take a look at the graph: http://i.imgur.com/OIswdAg.png After a while i could stop myself from tilting though, and focused on improving again. As you can see in the graph i didnt win enough to move up yet though: http://i.imgur.com/evkw3Ef.png
I was always playing some MTTs on the side for fun. I never really took them serious, never really learned how to play them properly. But in august i had the luck to bink two of them. One was a 1.10 deepstacked MTT where i placed 3rd for 72$, and the other one was the Hot 1.10, where i got 4th for 243$. A MASSIVE boost for my bankroll. Suddenly i was rolled for 16NL, and i took the shot. It wasnt my first shot at it, but it was succesful. From here on its basically the same as always. I grinded, took shots at 25NLz, they didnt work out, i had to move back to 16NLz. Here you can see my lifetime 16NLz graph: http://i.imgur.com/Lsy12An.png and this is the graph since i was winning: http://i.imgur.com/4ZtzI7o.png
In the meantime many things in the reallife happened. I just finished school in summer, and since february i was living on my own in a small 1-room-appartment. I started working 39 hours a week (if you are interested in that you can ask, but its too long and irrelevant to put in this post), and didnt have that much time for poker anymore. I still devoted pretty much all of my free time to poker. Now that i had results and knowledge, i could also finally convince my parents that poker isn't gambling, and that its not bad to be a pokerplayer. My mother taught me to always have the right priorities in life, which i am very thankful for. I always made sure that i had enough time for my friends, my girlfriend, and school. Well maybe not school, but not because i couldnt. I simply decided that school wasnt worth my full attention anymore. My goal for the future was to study psychology, and even IF i put my full energy into school, i still wouldnt have been able to reach the grades i needed. And to get the spot at university it wouldnt matter if i was close to the requirements or more far away, i would need to wait the same time (or i would sue the university for a place, which i will try next year if they dont let me in. Yes, its possible to sue the university for a place to study, god i love my country sometimes :D) So it was irrelevant if i tried my hardest in school, or just made sure i could finish it and get my "abitur", which is german for the graduation from highschool. If i look back i can say for sure that i put more energy and time into poker and studying for poker than into learning for school. But because i already knew what i wanted and how i could get it i didnt regret this decision.
The second big thing that happened was the legalization of online poker in Schleswig-Holstein, the nothern part of germany where i live in. Before they gave out licenses it was a grey area, so not totally illegal. But following that we got an own client, "pokerstars.sh", and a few rules, eg. not more than 10 tables open at a time etc.. These changes didnt affect me that much though, as i was always only playing 4 tables of zoom anyway.
Then i had my first live poker experience. In september i decided to take a 50bb shot at 2/4 in my local casino. It was basically just meant for fun, because i never played live before and wanted to experience it. In my first night playing live i left with 1238€ profit. I decided this would be my live bankroll, and went to the casino about once per week. I grinded it up to 4.5k, then went down to 2.5k again. Here i chose to stop, because i needed money for next years vacation (me and my gf want to travel to japan, which will be very expensive). Also i felt like online lost the needed focus and dedication from me.
To give online poker my full dedication i needed to get better. But learning by myself just wasnt good enough for me anymore. I needed to learn more efficient. I needed to get a coach. And i found one. We had coaching roughly once per week, and i learned so much every single day. I got better and better every day, and finally the day came where i would take a succesful shot at 25NLz.
This is where i am right now. After exactly 1 year playing/studying i went from 2NLz to winning at 25NLz. And my current winrate is pretty impressive, even though i guess its only samplesize and not my real winrate :D here is the graph of my latest 25NLz shot, and hopefully the last one: http://i.imgur.com/Kt5tdYj.png - and this is my lifetime 25NLz graph, with all the shots that didnt work out: http://i.imgur.com/GLBQr0T.png
I hope this wall of text was at least somewhat interesting for you guys. The main reason i wrote this is to remember the year and be appreciative for how far ive come. I've had an awesome poker year, went through ups and downs, but i still managed to come out ahead.
Here are some final results of this year:
The cashgame graph of my whole year, including every cashgame ive played: http://i.imgur.com/QLQZ9Ku.png
And this is the graph only showing my zoom results: http://i.imgur.com/FMFf317.png
edit: HeyitsClay suggested to show the results in bb to show a clearer picture. Here is only the zoom results shown in bb: http://i.imgur.com/SHl8Mzc.png
My online bankroll went from 50€ (~55$) to 1400$.
My live bankroll went from 200€ to 2500€.
My passion for poker is more alive than ever before. My plan for 2016 is to beat 100NL, and maybe play live again with a proper bankroll. When i start going to university this fall i will hopefully be able to finance myself purely through poker. That is the dream...

Glamorous casino to be built at City of Dreams Manila

There is a City of Dreams in Macau and ever since it was created, this gambling hub kept growing and now attracts a record number of people every year. Most of the games played here are regular casino games such as roulette, baccarat, video poker, blackjack and of course, slots. Poker operators were equally interested in establishing a more permanent position here and PokerStars makes no exception. The company operates almost exclusively online, but more recently they decided to get some boots on the ground and get involved in other ways too. As a result, they run occasional tournaments in Macau and City of Dreams was naturally chosen as the venue to host these events. 2013 was the first year that Macau revenue exceeded the money made in Las Vegas and there are no reasons to expect anything to change in the upcoming years. This is why prominent entertainment companies have decided to invest massively in existing venues, while opening new ones in different places. Asia remains the continent of choice and the best proof is that City of Dreams Manila is poised to grow a lot in the upcoming months. Melco Crown Entertainment is one of the investors willing to spend a lot of money here and if their plan comes to fruition, the new attraction will surpass everything existing in the capital city of the Philippines. In order to maximize their chances to succeed, the investors shook hands with DreamWorks Animation SKG and the project goes by the name of DreamPlay. Obviously, the location of this venue suggests that gambling remains their top priority and this is the source of revenue that is expected to help these guys enjoy some nice return on investment. On the other hand, the project has very ambitious goals and plans on providing educational and entertainment on par with Disneyland. The partnership between Melco Crown Philippines and DreamWorks is expected to produce results as early as late 2014. Both parties involved are highly optimistic about the success of DreamPlay and hope to tap into the immense potential of the Philippines market. For the time being, there are no plans for online poker companies such as PokerStars to become more involved in City of Dreams Manila. The fact that they were very successful in running the tournaments in Macau makes it less far-fetched to attempt to host a similar event in Manila. With DreamWorks working together with Melco Crown on this joint venture, it is only fair to assume that City of Dreams Manila will gain even more popularity.

Full Tilt Poker ventures into casino business

There is nothing wrong with lucrative companies to conquer new frontiers and online poker rooms have frequently expanded to the casino business. The latest to make such a move is Full Tilt Poker a subsidiary of PokerStars who proudly announced that it will provide its members with the opportunity to play blackjack and roulette. Instead of creating a brand-new client to incorporate these new games, they will use the same application that already runs on millions of computers worldwide. Back in January, when the new client was released, it was obvious that it was a major improvement to the previous version. Very few would expect Full Tilt Poker to undertake such a big change in a relatively short period of time, but that's exactly what they did. For the time being, only clients from the United Kingdom will be able to play blackjack and roulette here, but it is only fair to assume that players from abroad will soon enjoy the same benefits. Not so long ago, Full Tilt Poker was virtually broke with all its assets seized by the Department of Justice and players were anxiously waiting for their funds to be returned. The process completed in late March 2014 and at the time of writing, players from all over the world, with a few exceptions can play poker here safely. PokerStars was wise to make this acquisition, because after acquiring Full Tilt Poker, the number of clients grew a lot and they are now the biggest poker room in the world. By adding online casino games to the poker client, the Rational Group hopes to attract even more customers. In order to maximize their chances and in an attempt of speeding up the process, they decided to team up with Leander Games a company who has a reputation for developing excellent online casino games. The partnership was announced by the CEO of Leander Games, Steven Matsell earlier this month and both companies are confident that this joint venture will be a huge success. The game should be available on both play money version and real currency, just as the games of poker that have so many fans at Full Tilt Poker. There is no reason to believe that the poker room will change its profile and turn into a fully-fledged online casino, but this addition can't hurt.
